Intro Wem cricket club takes safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults seriously and is vigilant to the fact that some people may use sporting events as opportunity to record inappropriate images of children. Our Safeguarding policy
underpins this policy and Images is one distinct area which clearly links to our Social Media and New Technologies policy This policy particularly pertains to children (0-18) and vulnerable adults, however club members need to be aware that in terms of Data Protection, image(s) are considered ‘personal data’ and if shared wrongly, images may be liable through the defamation law |
In this policy IMAGES refers to: still
photographic images, moving images, art and CAD. Images also found online,
including social media and apps such as Instagram and TikTok and other
communications such as Skype & Zoom. |

1.2 CONSENT a)
Coaches will check Junior Registration Forms for parent permission in respect
of photography b)
Consent from either the child, adult, or both must be sought before
capturing, sharing or publishing image(s) and processed in accordance with
GDPR/legislation 1.3 NAME/IMAGE RULE
a) Image(s) of children should not be published together
with their name, school, age group or other personal information.
b) Do not ‘tag’ children’s photographs
1.4 CRICKET CLOTHING
The club is keen to promote positive image(s) of children playing cricket in cricket clothing 1.5 Image(s) should be kept for a minimal amount of time and destroyed when no longer required/including coaching video. (The club are seeking further advice re. their promotion of ‘Frog Box’) 1.6 ‘Inappropriate image taking’ is
a reporting headline on the ACI FORM 1.7 EQUALITY
· Ensure
that images do not cause distress/offence, esp. to children
· Images should celebrate diversity and promote all SEE Equality Policy1.8 REVIEW and UPDATE a)
Regular reviewing of this policy (per annum) with safeguarding
policies and procedures will ensure that imaging safeguarding issues are
fully integrated b)
Regular updates mean that the club stays abreast of new technological

What do you do if you have a concern? |
3.1 Any ‘image taking’ concerns should be reported to a coach/adult in charge or event organiser, who should approach the individual concerned in the first instance 3.2 They are a number of ways to raise a concern,
and in no particular order: a) Follow our Whistle blowing

4.
Cricket specific advice |
4.1 Children will be shown who the Safeguarding Officer(s) are. And image(s) concerns will be recorded and processed in the same way as any other concern/safeguarding concern 4.2 Coaches will encourage image taking opportunities at the beginning and end of sessions so that children/parents/carers can consent/withdraw. Coaches may set up a club ‘official’ photographer and/or camera registration book 4.3 Parents/carers are offered the opportunity to withhold consent for photographs of their child on the Junior Registration Form 4.4 Parents/carers/other children will not be prevented from taking image(s) but advice is given e.g coach talks, Safeguarding flyer 4.5 Regular updates of this, our social media and safeguarding policies will ensure 4.6 The Registration Secretary will inform coaches of any ‘withdrawn image(s) consent’. |
